On 17 March 2026, the Scottish Parliament voted against Liam McArthur's Assisted Dying Bill. The vote was 69 to 57.
Not Dead Yet UK welcomed the result. We commissioned polling ahead of the vote.
The polling shows nearly 7 in 10 (69%) of Scots agree that the Scottish Parliament should prioritise improving access to care for disabled people before considering whether to introduce assisted suicide.
Over 6 in 10 (62%) Scots agree that disabled people who struggle to access the health, social care and other support they need, given the current state of the NHS and social care funding, may be more likely to seek assisted suicide.
We believe the evidence from our polling helped shape the debate in Holyrood.
This is an important moment. Disabled people's voices were finally heard.
The campaign continues.
The Assisted Dying Bill in England and Wales is still before Parliament, and we remain committed to opposing it.
We'll keep you updated as events develop.
Thank you to everyone who supported the campaign.
